three best friends + the west coast... {roadtrip}

Well...now that it is almost a month after the fact, I might as well put up the blog post about my latest adventure. Yes, I am late. Very late.

So this is a story of three best friends....

There was a girl named Sharayah. She lived in the quiet little area of Wildomar with her loving family but decided to take on her own adventure at UC Davis in Davis, CA.

Naturally, her two best friends, Jacqueline and Micaela, decided it would be fun to all go up together. It was a Friday morning(...ish) when they embarked.

So off they went! Loaded with food, gas, a GPS, and a radio (that seemed to only want to play "Wake Me Up" by Avicii...) they were on their way up the coast. No, they didn't want to take the shorter way through Bakersfield (but nothing against the people there or anything). They just wanted to see some awesome coastal beauty.

The first stop was Solvang - a cute little Dutch-inspired town. Yes, all three resisted the urge to get some delicious pastries. {Mostly because they were all poor college students}

Jacqueline and Sharayah were very patient with Micaela's random "Stand right over there! This would be a cool picture" remarks. They did their best to have fun in the situation.

Then a quick stop at Pismo Beach to watch the super amazing sunset.

After spending the night at an inn, they explored Santa Cruz

{bonus: here's the actual selfie they are taking in the panorama photo above}

And Jacqueline had a fun time playing with the beach balls ;)

On the road again....
Until they were literally driving along the actual coast and decided to pull over because the view was just so dang gorgeous.
Oh...and they found some train tracks....

{Here is the view}

Eventually the three were tired from running all over the trails up on the cliff and Sharayah didn't like how "close" (it wasn't actually close) to the edge Micaela was getting, so they eventually decided to drive down to the actual beach.

Picnic lunch that day was right on the water.
Sunny blue skies + crashing waves + each other's company

Driving through the huge city of San Francisco was quite exciting. You know you're in a major city when the toll road is $5. Seriously?
No Golden Gate Bridge (or at least not up close), but hey, they drove through it. It counts as a place they saw.

Finally, the three made it up to Davis. Without too many bad scares either! And they say women can't drive... The three stayed in Sharayah's apartment/flat and met all her wonderful friends :)

And...they are obviously very good and patient with taking photos...I mean, obviously {not}.

Finally, Monday rolled around and Sharayah had to start school. So Jacqueline and Micaela said their goodbyes and headed back down (this time through the grapevine and Bakersfield) back home. The three quite enjoyed their time together and can't wait to be reunited in May.

Ok...I don't know if that's exactly what they're thinking...I (Micaela) haven't consulted them. But let's just say that that's what they're thinking. Haha. Love you both so much and am so thankful and blessed to be friends with you two!
